Anish says,
ReplyDeleteFact 1: The policy was introduced in 1979. Couples were only allowed to have one child.
If the baby turns out to be a girl. The couple would be allowed to have a second child.
Fact 2: The rule has been estimated to have reduced population growth in the China by about 300 million people in 20 years.
Fact 3: China's population was = to 1/5 of the whole world's population and was still growing before the rule was made.
Positive effects on development:
It could control the population. Since the policy was introduced the population of china has reduced by 400 million. This is good because now the government can offer supplies to their people.
They can also divert their attention to developing the country.
Negative effects on development.
Currently China has fewer young people than old people. As less are given birth to many old people are seen. When the couple gets old and their child marries the child and his wife would have to take care of their 2 senior parents and their own child.
I think this one child policy has helped China work towards development.

ReplyDeleteChina 1 Child Policy
Fact1: Parents who have only one child get a certificate which is called the "one-child glory certificate," which will give them economic benefits such as having extra salary every year until the child is 14.
Fact2: The policy was introduced in 1979 so that they could be able to control and limit the population of china.
Fact3: The one child policy problems are that it is sometimes against people's tradition, and is also sometimes a very big deal to some
people.
Fact4:You get a reward if you one child but if your an extra child you are going to be punished. The ways they would punish the citizen are making them to pay a fine, force them to make an abortion, in some cases get fired from her job or the child cannot attend school.
This policy has affected the China's development in both positive and negative ways.
Positive: it has help china reduce its population so this would make them need less funds to support their citizens and used the money to boost the economy instead or the goverment can by more supplies for their people and everyone would get more of it.
Negative: This will decrease the of birth each and as the parents get older they would need their children to work and find money to help support them but if there are less children to help take care of the parents.
I think this method is helping China to get closer to become developed.

ReplyDelete1. The one child policy is the population control policy of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The chinese government refers to it as the "family planning policy".
2. It restricts the number of children married urban couples can have to one, although it allows exceptions for several cases, including rural couples, ethnic minorities, and parents without any siblings themselves.
3. 35.9% of China's population is currently subject to the one-child restriction. I know I would be!
The policy was introduced in 1978 and first applied to children born in 1979. It was created by the chinese government to stop social, environmental, and economic issues all through out China.

ReplyDeleteFact 1: Couples can have only one child. In some places, if the child was a girl, they are aloud a second child.
Fact 2: Experts say that the one child policy prevented 300 million births, which is about the population of Europe.
Fact 3: It was introduced in 1979.
The one child policy affected China's economy a lot. People have less children to feed but also less children to provide food. The one child policy did have a big impact on China.

ReplyDelete1 child policy in China
Fact 1. The one child policy was first created in 1979.It is still enforced especially in the cities even though the country has gone through a lot of economic changes.
Fact 2. The main reason why the one child policy was created so that the population of China could be controlled.China and India are to of the most populated contries in the world. Their populations are very high.
Fact 3. If a couple had only 1 child they were given tax benefits, access to better housing, their child could go to a better school. And if they had more then 1 child they had to pay extra taxes, their 2nd child wouldnt enjoy benefits of good school and even the father couldnt get a promotion if he worked in the government.
Benefits : I think that this policy has made a big difference to the worlds population because it has decreased the population in China by 250 million people. This saves on alot of natural resources which we sometimes missuse. Some of the natural resources that we use are water, trees, natural gas etc.
Disadvantages: One of the biggest disadvantages of this policy is that chinese prefer male children because the male take care of the parents. So when a female child is born the have an abortion. So there are more males than females children in China.
Erika:
ReplyDeleteFact 1:
China's birth rate is relatively low at an estimated 14 births per one thousand people. This low birth rate is in large part caused by the country's 28-year old "One Child Policy".
Fact 2:
The policy discourages citizens from having more than one child through a variety of money incentives as well as promises of access to better housing, schooling, and health care.
Fact 3:
The policy was made in 1979 to control a growing population.
Fact 4:
Some people, when they learn they are going to have a girl child, they want to get rid of it.If not aborted, female babies often grow up in orphanages or are left second-class lives sheltered from access to adequate schooling or medical care. Studies have found that in some Chinese orphanages, over ninety percent of the children are females.
The one child policy has helped China's development in bad ways and good ways. The policy has reduced the high population in China and has helped reduce poverty.
Although the policy has caused the next generation to grow up as only children. When the policy was made, some people preferred having male children instead of female children which has caused a decrease of the female population.
Arabella says:
ReplyDelete1. the original policy was that you could have one child unless it was a girl then you could have another.
2. some slogans on posters said rude things like "one more baby means one more tomb" and "raise less children but more pigs" these slogans wore banned later.
3. the policy was created around the same time as some economic reforms so a lot of people wanted more children to supply better labor.
the one child policy has definitely changed china's development the average women used to have 6 children and now has about 2. this is also lowering the population by a lot in Shanghai people are encouraged to have 2 children to keep the population up.
Sophie says....
ReplyDelete1. The one-child policy was introduced to ensure that China, which has historically been prone to floods and famine, could feed all its people.
2.Government officials said the policy was a great success, preventing at least 250 million births since 1980.
3.In most rural areas, a couple may have a second child after a break of several years.
4.Critics of the policy maintain it has led in some case to the killing of female infants because of the traditional preference for boys. The number of men is thought to outnumber women in China by more than 60 million.
I still think China has room for improving as they still have a large population but they are doing well so far.

I think China still has room for improving, for egsample, its large population, but is doing well so far. China is on the way to becoming a developed country.

ReplyDeleteOne child policy in China-
1) This was first introduced in 1978.
2) 76% of China's population supports this policy
3) This policy prevented about 250 million child being born a year
Negative Impact:
The negative impact of this might be the unbalanced gender in the population. When the second child is born they need to put the parents of the child needs to put that child up for adoption or either pay extra tax for that child. In some poor families they will have to put their child up for adoption because they can't afford to pay the extra tax.
Positive Impact:
China has the largest population at the moment so this policy is good because if China's population keeps on growing then one day it will overflow. The other positive impact is that china developing more and more because they are able to control their birthrate and population. This is important because it reflects on weather China is a developed country or a developing country.
In conclusion I think that this policy is make China develop it shows that the government is able to control the birthrate so the population does not grow too fast.
HaEun Says:XD
ReplyDelete1 child policy in China
Fact 1
This policy was first introduced in 1979 and is still going on nowhere days.
Fact 2
In most rural areas, a couple may have a second child after a break of several years.
Fact 3
It is common to find couples in the countryside, where 80% of the population live, with a large number of children.
Advantages
I think that it was a good idea to have the one child policy because China decreased by 250 million people which is a lot. The governments can provide less food and education when there are less people in china. If there are lots of people living, china would be very poor now. It also saves the natural resources like paper and so on.
Disadvantages
The policy can have a bad impact on China because the gender population will not be equal. Once a couple have one child and have another one, the other has to get adopted. Most Chinese people like having sons so there will be more sons than daughters. Gender population can affect China's development very easily.
Overall, I think that the one child policy helps improve China's development. This is because the government won't have to pay too much attention providing food and jobs for the Chinese citizens...:)
Ceibhionn says
ReplyDeleteFact 1: China is the world most populated nation making up 20% of the estimated worldwide population.
Fact 2: You may have 2 children in rural areas if the first child is a girl.
Fact 3: In some parts of China if you have more then 1 child you may be forced to get an abortion or you have to pay money for each child.
This is helping China become a more developed country because it is keeping the amount of people living in poverty down ,the goverment also find it easier to help people becouse there are less people in need of help and the polutoin that China produces will decrees becouse there are less poeple to produce it.
One thing that is bad about this policy is that it is cousing chinas population to be mostly boys this is becouse parents want a boy to look after them when they are older so the girls are put up for adoption or the parents get a abortion when they find out it is a girl.
amy says
ReplyDelete1.started 1979
2.76% of the population in china argress with it
3.has increased the number of abortins and female infanty mortalitiy ad maybe the reason why china has a unblanced population
this is effecting the development in both posive and negative ways with an unblanced population with more males then females becouse familys wat males more then females to work, thought this pocliy was put into action to help the countrys popuation go down it has left more abortions and more kids abandoned and orphaned, to me there this poilcy is neither good or bad on the countrys develoment it is both.
Daniel says:
ReplyDeleteFact 1: If the child of the couple was a girl, they were allowed to have a second child. But if the second isn't a boy, they won't be allowed any more chidlren.
Fact 2: in 1970 (before the one child policy) an average mom would have about 6 children, now they would have about 2.
Fact 3: Was introduced in 1979.
I think the one child policy is helping China because many people in China are in poverty and with the growing number of people China will have to meet needs that they probably can't meet. The one child policy is helping stabilize China's economy.
China's population would be probably almost 2 billion if it wasn't for this rule.
Lexi says:
ReplyDeleteFact 1:Parents who only have one child gets a "One-child glory certificate". which allows them to have more advantages then the parents who don't follow the one child policy. Such as: extra month's salary every year until the child is 14,Interest-free loans, retirement funds, cheap fertilizer, better housing, better health care, and priority in school enrollment.
Fact 2: If the parents have more than one child they will have punishments and heavy fines. If the fine is not paid sometimes the parents land is taken away, their house is destroyed, they lose their jobs or the child is not allowed to attend school.
Fact 3:If their child turns out to be a girl then they are allowed to have a second child. What ever gender the second child is, they are not allowed to have any more children.
I think that the one child policy in China is very strict because if you don't follow the rules then there are big punishments for the parents. But this is helping China because it has helped pull people out of poverty. People in China will need to have enough money to support their family with food, education, health etc. and if they don't have enough money to pay for those things their family could end up in poverty. With people following the rules of the one child policy, they get more privileges and their family becomes more wealthy. The population of China would be much higher than today if it wasn't for the one child policy rule.
Nick says:
ReplyDelete1. first started in 1978
2. in 2008 76% of the chinese people supported this rule
3. you can have a second child if the first is a girl, or has a illness. (e.g. mental retardation)
The policy helped china to become more developed, because if they have less children, they dont have as much people to feed and in the future there wont be as many homeless people since there are enough jobs.
Nawal Says:
ReplyDeleteFact 1: People who have only 1 child receive a “One-Child Glory Certificate”. This allows them to have economical benefits such as 1 extra month’s salary every year till the child is 14, loans with no interest, higher wages, better housing, priority for child’s enrollment in school and better health care.
Fact 2: In 1970 an average Chinese woman would have 6 (5.8) children. Now an average Chinese woman has 2. It is supposed o be only 1 but many families in the countryside have more than 1 child.
Fact 3: the one child policy ruins the tradition is some regions of China. In some reasons of china the tradition is to have big families with lots of children but with this rule people can’t follow their traditions.
Positive aspects: This rule makes sure there are less people in China which means that there will be more jobs available. From this the economy will go up.
Negative: People have to abandon their tradition and follow this rule. People who don’t follow this rule can get fined up to $12,800, or get your land, house and job taken away from you. There are some rumors that some people have been tortured for having more than 1 child.
Armaan Says:
ReplyDelete1. Parents can only have on child in China. If they have more then one child they have buy that child, they also have to pay extra month money until they are 14 year old and also they can also put the second child in the orphanage
2.If their child turns out to be a girl then they are allowed to have a second child but even if the second child is any other gender they still can't have any more child.
3.In the past Chinese woman would have an average of 6 six children and now a woman would have an average of 2 children.

ReplyDeleteAfter watching the video this is what I learned about the one child policy.
1. You have to be married to adopt a child from China.
2. Woman in China would much rather give birth to a boy rather than a girl because they figure a boy could take care of them better.
3. Most of the children in adoption centers are girls because many couples in China figure that girl are worthless in the long run.
Ellis-
ReplyDeleteTwo stereotypes that the video portrayed.
1. They were constantly talking about how when the chinese children were moved to China, they were going to become spoiled and bratty.
2. They also said that "all chinese children look alike" which is totally false.
amy says
ReplyDelete1.if you are marryied it is easyer to adopt
2.most of the childern are girls becouse people want boys to work and look after then
3.it cost alot of money to adopt
the sterio type is that chineses are smart and has lots of childern up for adoption becouse of the one child poilcy.
